Living up to our commitment to quality and sharing the very best of Belize, we relish the opportunity to explore uncharted territory, no matter the distance. That’s why CC+L heads west to explore Mountain Pine Ridge with Hidden Valley Inn! Our journey to the Mountain Pine Ridge area has been a great adventure. Roughly a 2.5 to 3-hour drive from Belize City, the journey getting to this vast, untouched and unspoiled area in the interior of Belize, was an easy one.

The CC+L team settled in very quickly and with ease thanks to the kind hospitality of the folks at Hidden Valley Inn. Moreover, it is an intimate luxury resort situated amidst 7,200 acres of private reserve.

Hidden Valley Inn

Of the 8,867 square miles that make up Belize, 28% of the country is still environmentally protected. Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve, located in the Cayo district, is the oldest and largest protected reserve in the country. Lush green pine and broadleaf forest, beautiful rivers and hidden waterfalls that speckle the area make for a nature lovers paradise.

Abundant in wildlife, the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve is home to wild cats and magnificent birds such as the Blue-Crowned Motmot, Keel-Billed Toucan, Common Crossbill, King Vulture and the Warbler.

Of all the things to see and do in this area here are our top picks:

THOUSAND FOOT FALLS

The largest waterfall in all of Central America is located in the Mountain Pine Ridge. A viewpoint allows you to enjoy a breathtaking view of this magnificent natural gem from a distance.

RIO ON POOLS

Large flat rocks with flowing freshwater make Rio on Pools the perfect spot for a picnic and a dip on a hot sunny day.

BIG ROCK FALLS

Sheltered amidst the forest is a majestic 150-foot waterfall. After a short hike down a steep trail, it is only fitting to jump in for a refreshing swim.

Uncrowded, yet publically accessible, these sites allow you to immerse yourself in nature and all of its splendor.

Big Rock Falls

In addition to these, our stay at Hidden Valley Inn allowed us to explore more remote and pristine waterfalls such as Butterfly Falls and Secret Falls and Pools, that are available only to the inn guests. This surely made our experience even more exclusive and special.

Whether it be trekking through the forest, bird watching, or having a romantic day at the waterfalls, the Mountain Pine Ridge offers an unparalleled experience.
